Khantoke Thai Kitchen | Our Story

Authentic Thai Comfort Food

hantoke Thai Kitchen is a cozy, family-owned Thai restaurant nestled in the heart of downtown Hillsboro, Oregon. Our goal is simple: to bring the warmth, flavor, and soul of real Thai home cooking to the Pacific Northwest. The owner, originally from Northern Thailand, grew up surrounded by the aroma of sticky rice, grilled meats, and home-style curries. Inspired by the Northern Thai tradition of gathering around a “khantoke” – a wooden tray used for shared meals - we created a space where people can come together, just like family. Every dish at Khantoke is crafted with love, using fresh ingredients, bold spices, and cherished family recipes passed down through generations. From the sweet- savory balance of Pad Thai to rich curries and juicy grilled pork skewers served with warm sticky rice, we serve comfort on every plate. At Khantoke, we don't just serve food – we share stories, smiles, and a little piece of home. Come join us and experience Thai hospitality at its coziest.
What a Khantoke Means

What a Khantoke Means

A khantoke is a round wooden tray set at the center of a Northern Thai meal — an invitation to slow down and share. That spirit of gathering is why this restaurant exists.
Raised on These Recipes

Raised on These Recipes

Our owner grew up with sticky rice in bamboo baskets, charcoal-grilled meats, and slow-simmered curries passed down through generations. Those flavors aren't inspiration — they are the menu.

Bringing these recipes to Main Street Oregon meant building a space that feels honest — an open kitchen, warm light, and a dining room where strangers become neighbors.

Every dish — from the khao soi's layered coconut curry broth to fresh rolls made to order — is cooked with ingredients we'd choose for our own family.
